Duet rescues “Nada Mais (Lately)”, which gained prominence in the 80s
The voices of João Fênix and Ney Matogrosso unite in a new version of "Nada Mais (Lately)", a song that became a hit in the 80s when it echoed in the voice of Gal Costa. The song, released on the album "Profana" (1984) is, in fact, a Portuguese version of the Stevie Wonder classic.
The single is part of the duet project by singer João Fênix, centered on romantic songs already known to the general public. The meeting with Ney Matogrosso reinforces the harmony between the vocal registers of both and Fênix's admiration for his guest: “When I attended a Ney show for the first time, in 1993, on the tour with Aquarela Carioca, I understood the importance he it had in the aesthetics and vocal design that I was starting to develop. I understood the strength of what I consider to be the founder of the androgynous school in Brazilian music”, points out the artist from Pernambuco. “I started to follow his work until we became friends, since Ney's participation in my first album, in 2001”, he concludes.
The duet of João Fênix and Ney Matogrosso was already confirmed, the song remained to be defined. When Gal Costa passed away, the idea of honoring her came up: “Ney's idea was, right away he remembered “Nada mais” and it was a super right choice. We both love the result”, concludes Fênix.
The track will be available for listening tomorrow, the 31st.
